On behalf of our client, we are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the success of our projects.

Primary Purpose (Role)

• Engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, EPCM, EPC, SIB and Optimization projects.

Main functions include (but not limited to):

• Design Engineering
• Technical Support
• Procurement of electrical equipment
• Site Support
• Commissioning
• Documentation and handover

Key Performance Areas (Responsibilities)

Engineering

• Carry out innovative detailed designs as required for specific disciplines following good engineering practices.
• Ensure that the discipline designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specifications, industry standards and the relevant legislation (quality of design).
• Provide design interface between disciplines.
• Ensure (certified) design information received from vendors, contractors and consultants is accurate and interfaces with other designs.
• Ensure the effective (peer) review and approval of discipline design.
• Ensure continuous improvement, lessons learnt, value engineering, fit for purpose and latest technologies are implemented.
• Interface with internal and external design and drafting disciplines.
• Provide discipline inputs for studies and proposals.
• Factory Acceptance Testing of electrical equipment
• Provide engineering support to the site team.
• Perform commissioning discipline activities.
• Manage the mark-up and back draughting of redline drawings.
• Manage the discipline engineering handover and support to the client

Operational Management

• Provide input into all SHE matters, actively participate and promote a total safety culture.
• Ensure that relevant project procedures are complied with.
• Assist with the commissioning in accordance with the project & vendor specifications.
• Ensure that reports are structured, accurate, complete and well presented.
• Display proactive communication with project team with respect to discipline interface and problem solving.
• Display effective management of time.
• Ensure proper change management procedure is adhered to.

Client Relations

• Ensures that all interactions with Clients are conducted in professional and respectful manner.
• Ensures that Clients are kept informed and up to date on status of project technical aspects.
• Ensures that our company remains the Clients engineering service provider of choice.
• Liaises and co-ordinates with the client’s discipline engineers to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications.
• Ensures proactive flow of information, involvement and communications with the complete project team.

Qualifications

• B Eng or BTech in Electrical Engineering

Registrations

• Engineers Registration Board (ERB) – Peng

Job Related Experience Required

• Project Electrical Engineer
• MV and LV Design Experience
• Site Installation assistance and commissioning of electrical equipment
• ETAP and/or Digsilent experience
• Electrical Protection
• Min 5 years
• Worked within and EPCM/Mining environment
• SHE compliance

Ownership or experience running an engineering company will be considered an added advantage.
